Gay City Arts presents Deep Space Lez

April 13-16 & 20-23
General Admission $15-$20 / Students & Seniors $12

Set in the not so distant future, a trio of lesbians hell-bent on communal living have entered a galaxy wide Space Race with the intent on nabbing First Prize: a small, untouched planet. En route, they respond to a distress call from two lesbians who were stranded on Venus. These reluctant crew members soon become integral players as the ship finds itself in an all out crusade to save a cluster of nearby planets from untimely destruction.

Thru feminist wisdom, guidance from the goddess, and a lot of processing over loose leaf tea, the crew must bridge generational gaps and diverging galactic views, navigate interplanetary romantic relationships, and settle on whose turn it is to buy bulk nutritional yeast, with the ultimate goal of making Space into Safe Space for all.

Gay City Arts presents Rising Up

May 11-14 & 18-21
General Admission $15-$20 / Students & Seniors $12

A Black Trans Woman exits a failing long-term relationship and re-enters Queer Community through her new residence at a Queer Co-Op House in the Central District. As Seattle continues forward with its rapid changes, the characters are impacted by and experience displacement but find survival, support, and tenderness with each other.

Rising Up is a play about the resistance, love, and transition of people we see and know in our community: Queer and Trans People of Color, Queer and Trans People with Disabilities, Queer and Trans Femmes and Queer and Trans working class people. Through the character's journeys, we see how their struggles, identities, and magic come together, endure conflict, and learn about themselves.

GAY CITY ARTS SEASON 4: UNCONTAINED

Sep 2016 - May 2017

Every day we face boundaries. We’re told we don’t belong because of the way we look, the way we act, or the way we sound. We’re told who we’re allowed to love and who we’re allowed to be. But we’re so much more than the constraints society smothers us with. We’re big, we’re bold, and we’re free. We’re UNCONTAINED.

Gay City Arts proudly presents our 4th performing arts season, UNCONTAINED. Gay City Arts Season Four runs from September 2016 through May 2017, and features some of the best of Seattle’s queer performing arts, including comedy, music, theater, and burlesque!
