Dear friends,

After serving in their roles as a transition team and stewarding the Center into a new space and a new era of expanded programming, Co-Executive Directors Bekah Telew (She/They) and Kai Horton (They/Them) announce their upcoming departures from Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center. While we are sad to see them go, we hope you will help us spread the word about the exciting opportunity to serve as a leader for Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center.

“This has been a transformational year for our organization, and we are incredibly proud of what our staff and community have made possible together. We have all worked hard to move our organization forward in a way that serves our community with love, support, and resources needed to be the healthiest and happiest they can be. As we both start new chapters in our lives, we are filled with hope, gratitude, and excitement for the future of Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center. We are excited to support the search for our next leader who will continue the Center’s work serving LGBTQ+ communities through an anti-oppression lens that centers QTBIPOC communities. Not only will they get the chance to work with our truly exceptional team, but they will have the opportunity to shape the Center’s next chapter at an incredibly exciting time in our history.” said Kai and Bekah.

Bekah Telew has been working with the Center for 7 years, first as a volunteer, then as Director of Development, and later as a Co-Executive Director. Over the past two years, they have also been pursuing a masters in couple and family therapy, and will leave their role at the Center in September to begin their new career as a therapist specializing in LGBTQ+ adolescents and families.

Kai Horton has been with the Center for the last year and a half first as the Director of Programs and then moving into the Co-Executive Director role. During their time with us, they have focused their energy on building community spaces that center QTBIPOC joy while also building long-lasting programs that build trans-affirming care and liberation. They are making their way back home to California where they will continue their journey of building communities of care for queer and trans people (and getting in a lot of sunbathing too!).

Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center Staff and Board would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Kai and Bekah for all of their hard work and dedication to this organization. We are sad to see them leave and excited for all the greatness life has in store for them.

The Board has started the search for a new Executive Director as of April 25, 2023. We are looking forward to filling this role as soon as possible, and appreciate your help in spreading the word to your networks. You can find the official job description at gaycity.org/Jobs!
