Research Opportunity for Autistic Transgender/Gender Diverse Teens

The Fox Lab in the University of Denver’s department of psychology is conducting a study that aims to learn more about the experiences of intersectional identity-related stress and resilience among autistic trans adolescents.

We are looking to recruit about 50 autistic trans teens to take a 30-minute online survey. We will also invite 6-10 participants to participate in an online interview.

Interested teens will be asked to complete an online eligibility survey. Eligible participants will be emailed a link to the main study survey, which will take about 30 minutes to complete. The survey will include questions about autistic and trans identity, questions about positive and stressful experiences related to autistic-trans identity, and questions about self-harm. Participants will receive a $15 electronic gift card for completing the online survey.

Some teens who complete the survey will also be invited to participate in online interviews. We will meet with interview participants individually online, using Zoom, to talk about their experiences being trans and autistic. Interview topics will include what it feels like to be autistic and trans, school and health care experiences, and relationships. The interview will take about one hour. Participants will receive a $20 electronic gift card for completing the online interview.

Teens interested in participating should visit [https://udenver.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bpjHA7N1BDfuwx8] to complete the eligibility survey. If you have any questions or concerns related to this study, please email the study team at [[email protected]].
