A Qualitative Study Examining Senior and Middle Management Leadership Experiences of Non-Cisgender Leaders
Senior leadership positions are primarily held by white, middle-aged men. The problem is workplace norms are historically centered around heteronormativity, cisnormativity, heterosexism, and whiteness, which excludes women, people of color, and non-cisgender individuals from entering and remaining in senior leadership positions. The purpose of this basic qualitative study will be to explore the leadership experiences of non-cisgender middle and senior leaders within urban environments located in the Western Region of the United States. Participants will discuss their perceptions regarding the lack of non-cisgender representation in middle and senior leadership positions and how their leadership experiences compare to cisgender leaders.
