In response to the SGN article published on September 21, we want to share additional information because it is important to us to be transparent with you all. The Department of Health informed us that it is changing its labs from King County to CDD in Texas for all of its testing partners. While all client information is protected under HIPAA, as a by-and-for organization, we understand and share the same concerns about using the lab in TX.
We take proactive steps to advocate for and protect our clients. The Center follows defensive data collection and documentation practices designed to safeguard client privacy while supporting informed decision-making by providing community members with clear and comprehensive information about the testing process, including data collection, documentation, and storage.
The changes we are fighting against at the Center are a direct result of the changes being made by our Federal government. Changes to Federal regulations and funding cuts to HIV prevention dollars impact our ability to serve the community. Regardless, we will do everything in our power to advocate for our community’s needs.
